The Wizard Behind the Curtain

Let me be upfront: I’m not a guru. I’m not a thought leader. I don’t have a podcast, a course, or a motivational poster with a sunset on it.

I’m Alex – a graphic designer with 20 years of experience, 10 years of IT before that, and exactly zero patience for content that wastes your time.

Three decades of figuring out how things actually work. Watching technology change four times over. Fixing other people’s problems before I learned to charge properly for it – which, honestly, I’m still working on.

Somewhere along the way I picked up an embarrassing amount of knowledge about AI tools, productivity systems, human psychology, health science, and why your dog is judging you.

Wizformer exists because I got tired of reading articles that say a lot and tell you nothing.

How I Got Here

I started fixing computers at 16. Not because I planned to – because someone had to, and I happened to be the one who knew how.

Picture this: a skinny teenager in a heavy metal t-shirt showing up at your door to take apart your brand new computer – the one that cost you three months’ salary. You’d paid good money for that machine. You were not thrilled. And yet, somehow, the kid fixed it and left without breaking anything else. That’s where I lost any fear of working under pressure. It’s also where I learned that trust has nothing to do with how you look.

That’s been the pattern ever since.

Over the years I’ve worked in IT, electronics repair, photography, print design, and UI/UX – often two jobs at once, always learning something new. I’ve designed interiors, built furniture from scratch, set up networks, and spent more hours in front of a screen than I care to calculate.

Then AI arrived and changed everything. Not in a hype-cycle way – in a “this actually works and I can’t believe we didn’t have this before” way. I started using it daily, testing what’s real versus what’s marketing copy dressed up as innovation, and writing about what I found.

That’s Wizformer.

What You’ll Find Here

Six categories. All things I actually know something about:

AI Tools & Digital Skills – I use these every day. I’ll tell you what’s worth your money and what’s worth ignoring.

Productivity & Smart Living – After decades of juggling multiple jobs and projects simultaneously, I’ve developed strong opinions about what actually moves the needle and what just makes you feel productive.

Health & Wellness – I read the studies so you don’t have to. Then I translate them from “academic paper” into “human.”

Relationships & Psychology – This one surprises people. I’m not a therapist. But friends have been calling me for advice since before smartphones existed – and somehow the problems are always the same. People know what they should do. They just need someone to say it out loud without judgment. That’s what I do here.

Make Money Online – I spent decades being great at making money for other people and terrible at making it for myself. Wizformer is my attempt to fix that – in public, in real time. You’ll get the honest version, including the parts where nothing works yet.

Pets & Animal Care – I’ve had dogs, parrots, fish, a hedgehog, and turtles. The dog was basically a person. I have opinions.

The Fine Print

Everything on this site is researched, tested, or lived. No fake “I tried this for 30 days” stories. No corporate enthusiasm. No conclusions I don’t actually believe.

If I’m wrong, I’ll say so. If something works, I’ll tell you why. If it doesn’t, I’ll tell you that too – and probably make a joke about it.

Welcome to Wizformer. Make yourself at home.
